Time

We need more time,

We need less time arguing and worrying…

Time flies,

Time stands still…

Where has the time gone?

March 2020 gave a new meaning to the word time. Most of us now had the time to clean those closets or work on other home projects. We had the time to read, knit, garden or binge watch that talked about TV show. Many of us had great plans to make the most of our imposed quarantine. However, as time went by, we found we did have time for personal initiatives but no time for getting together with family and friends. More importantly, we were not able to do what comes naturally to loving, caring and thoughtful men and women… we could not enjoy serving others. If you are anything like me, that really made me realize the importance of what we do as Christ Child members. What would those kids do without us? How could we help our communities? Now, as we have heard, many chapters found other ways to serve, other temporary programs, as well as alternative fundraisers to support their chapter efforts. They did not let the "times" define them.

It is also during these times that we recognize we are part of a larger organization, a greater effort to help those in need of resources. I take pride in hearing what chapters are doing even if some are still trying to find their way. There is no right or wrong way… only a right or wrong heart. All chapters have Mary Virginia Merrick and those Christ Child members who came before us, praying and rooting for us all! Yes, we are a team… Team MVM. Our mascot is the red wagon, that symbolizes the simple act which was the start of this wonderful organization. Our coaches are the National Board and Office who are trying to provide chapters with best practices and resources that can help during regular or unconventional times. But as on all teams, the most important people are you, our "players". You are the ones who touch the lives of children and families in your communities. You are the ones who pivot, bob, weave and rise as underdogs against the pandemic, in order to make the best of this time. I have faith in all of you! Time will show that we rose up to challenges. This is our time…Let’s all do what we can to make the team proud!

This is my last blog as President of NCCS… an organization that I am blessed to be a part of and help guide. I leave you all with my favorite prayer…

“May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.” ― Teresa of Ávila
