Sarah Hills/Monterey Bay
I am honored by the opportunity to serve on the National Christ Child Society Board of Directors and excited to be part of an organization that has significantly improved children's lives for the last 139 years. I look forward to working alongside the organization's remarkable volunteers to further the Christ Child Society's (CCS) mission and expand its outreach.
Sarah first heard about the CCS in 2017, when she learned of Mary Virginia Merrick’s vision of serving children and “to find a need and fill it.” Having roots in Washington, D.C., and a mother who was a Dame of Malta, Sarah felt that the Christ Child Society suited her interests and objectives well. Hence, she joined the Monterey Bay chapter and became involved in the literacy and baby bundle programs. In 2019, Sarah joined the CCS Board of Monterey Bay and co-chaired and chaired Christ Child Society of Monterey Bay’s Annual Shower of Love. She became the chapter’s second president, helping build a strong leadership pipeline and implementing the strategic plan.
Sarah grew up in Rome, Italy, and graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in Language and Communication. She also earned a culinary degree from L’Academie de Cuisine. She has been recognized frequently for her leadership in bringing people together for a common cause. Her past experiences include sales, fundraising, hospitality leadership and being the small business owner of Shortspoon Catering. She has been an active volunteer and leader in her children’s schools, Scouts of America and her local parish. She was a board member (serving for nine years) and past chair of the Hospice Giving Foundation. She speaks fluent Italian as well as some conversational Spanish and French.
Sarah lives in Long Beach, NY, and Carmel, CA. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, cooking and listening to music. She is currently learning to play Mahjong. She and her husband Phil have two grown children, Isabelle in Carmel, CA and Philip in Washington, D.C. Sarah and Phil recently celebrated their 31st anniversary and recently have become grandparents.
